You know when you see a quote and you’re like “wow, I really like what that says. So true.” Well, that has happened to us countless times, but never have quotes had so much meaning to us as these do. For those of you that have followed us on Instagram, you know how passionate we are about health and fitness. You see our daily posts about our 5 am workouts, our meal prepping, and our countless dinner plates with veggies piled high. People ask us often what we do for work, and are very surprised to hear that we work for a “Big 4” accounting firm.
In the back of our minds, we knew once we found our passion, we had to do something with it. People always say, “In the end, we only regret the chances we didn’t take.” On that note, my sister, Alexis, and I have decided to leave our corporate jobs, and pursue our passion. Our philosophy is, and always has been, you need to practice what you preach. We believe life is all about taking risks, and being comfortable with the uncomfortable.
We are not going to lie or sugar coat it—that is not who we are. It was definitely a difficult decision, and has involved countless discussions. We both have extremely secure jobs that we worked incredibly hard to get. We work late hours, and while it has been very rewarding and we have learned A TON, it is not our passion. If you’ve found your passion, and you’re not living it, you know exactly what we are talking about. You can understand how hard it is to sit at a desk all day and think about what you could be doing to live out your passion!
With all of that being said, we decided to take the plunge. We have both been at our current jobs for one year, after graduating with a degree in Management Information Systems from the University of Texas at Austin. In all honesty, there will never be a so-called “perfect” time to do this. You will always have financial and personal responsibilities, and you will always be wondering if you’re doing the right thing. We all know that the things you will probably gain the most from are never easy.
Now, this doesn’t mean (at least for us) the minute you want to do something, you go for it, impulsively. We have planned a tremendous amount, and have saved up money to provide cushion. We have been (or tried to be) educated in our decision-making.
If you’re wondering what we are planning on doing, we are personal training clients and have some other food related projects in the works. We have been balancing all of this already while working our corporate jobs, so you can imagine how long our days have been! If anything, while we do have a business background, you learn SO much more through making your own business.
This post is not about announcing our future plans, but more about inspiring others to go reach for your dreams! You are never alone, trust us! As a quote we saw said,” You can never cross the ocean unless you have the courage to lose sight of the shore.” People waste so much time worrying about the “what if’s” or the negatives that could result from taking a risk. Guess what, though? You will NEVER know what the outcome is until you try. Remember, you regret the things you didn’t do, not the things you DID do.
